Yeah. Call me weird. I know that I am different. But, I can’t help it.
I love Mondays.
You see, I live a religious tradition that honors the Sabbath Day.
I enjoy the Sabbath. I go to church meetings, spend time with family, study scripture, do some family history, visit with friends. That kind of thing
And, I try to do no work on Sunday.
Zip. Zilch. Nada. Nothing. As far as I can help it.
And I try to make it so that other people don’t have to work on Sunday.
That means that I don’t go to movies, restaurants or stores. Nothing that would make another person have to work.
Sure, there is the proverbial Ox in the Mire every once in a while. But, on the whole, I try to avoid these things.
And therein lies my problem.
I LOVE doing these things!!
Especially work.
I REALLY like to do manual things, like tinkering, piddling around, yard work, house repairs and building stuff. I’m always building or trying to make things grow or make things better.
I have so many projects that I don’t know when I’ll get to them all.
Saturday is usually a great day to do many of these things. I get into a rhythm and normally get a lot done. I get into a “zone” where I’m just going, going, going.
Until I get tired and have to quit for the day. I look back on the day and feel good about what I have accomplished.
Then, Sunday comes and I have to push “pause.”
Oh, that is hard for me. It requires a paradigm shift. It requires me to turn my attention to God more fully. As I said, I like my Sundays.
But, in the back of my mind there are all of the things that I had left undone on Saturday. The things that must be done. The things that I enjoy doing.
Then comes Monday!
Yay! Monday!
Once again, I am free to pursue all of those things that I need to do. No restrictions.
Oh, how I love Mondays!
